INTA delegation visit to Canada

From March 21-23, Marietje Schaake will visit Canada with the Committee on International Trade (INTA) The visit to Canada will among others be in the context of CETA, the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada that has been worked out. CETA strengthens economic cooperation between the EU and Canada and makes sure that there are increased opportunities for European companies in Canada. Marietje Schaake will hold meetings with Hon. Chrystia Freeland , Minister of International Trade, Mr Steve Verheul, CETA Chief Trade Negotiator for Canada, and with the Members of the Standing Committee on International Trade (CIIT) of the Canadian House of Commons. Moreover there will be a civil society outreach event at the EU Delegation with key opinion leaders Now that the final text for CETA is on the table, the agreement will have to be ratified by the Member States, the European Parliament and the Canadian Parliament before it can enter into force.
