Meet the new authors - Frédéric Chopin Piano Concert

Marietje

FRÉDÉRIC CHOPIN Piano Concert

Part of the MEET THE NEW AUTHORS event series

April 23 19:00 – Yehudi Menuhin space, European Parliament   MEP Marietje Schaake and MEP Julia Reda invite you to a performance of works by Frédéric Chopin in the European Parliament. Classical music forms an important part of our common cultural heritage. Even though many of these works are hundreds of years old, copyright on recordings can limit public access to them. The Open Goldberg Project was started to address this problem. Supported by crowd funding, they released high-quality recordings and scores of Johann-Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations and Well-Tempered Clavier into the public domain. Their newest project: Liberating the works of Frédéric Chopin. Hear from Robert Douglass, the project's director about the reasons and challenges of updating classical music to the 21st century and enjoy an interpretation of the works by celebrated pianist Kimiko Ishizaka.   We're looking forward to seeing you at the event and thank you for your registration! If you require access to the Parliament, please send full name, date of birth, nationality, and your passport/ID card number to julia.reda-office@ep.europa.eu by April 16 noon. meet-the-new-authors-reda-copyright-chopin-concert
