Dutch Member of European Parliament Marietje Schaake (D66/ALDE) responds to the postponement of the 2nd round of negotiations on the Transatlantic Traded and Investment Partnership (TTIP) due to the US Federal Government shutdown. It is unfortunate that the Americans where forced to postpone the negotiation round. There's much work to be done and we're pursuing an ambitious timetable to realize the economic growth and new jobs the TTIP would create. I trust the European Commission and the United States Trade Representative will continue their work via digital means. Hopefully the US side will soon be able to send a full negotiating team to Brussels. We stand ready to continue our work.
