Author: Marietje Schaake Subject: Follow-up on the No Disconnect Strategy In December 2011, Vice-President Kroes announced the ‘No Disconnect Strategy’ (NDS) to ‘promote Internet freedom’ globally. 1) What progress has been made, including concrete results and projects, in all 4 pillars of the NDS, and to which extent is the Commission using the No Disconnect Strategy as as a benchmark for its internet governance and human rights policies? 2) To which extent is the Commission using the No Disconnect Strategy as a benchmark in evaluating proposals for its Annual Action Programme 2015 for the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)? 3) Have other programs along the lines of NDS been developed with the specific goal of ensuring new technologies are used to advance access to information, freedom of expression and association, pressfreedom and other human rights?
