With regard to the negotiations on the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA), the United States has made a text proposal that could potentially gravely undermine European standards of data protection and net neutrality. This text, dated April 2014, was leaked and published on the website of Associated Whistleblower Press. 1. How does the Commission assess the proposals of the United States, and how will the Commission ensure that the European fundamental right to privacy, the EU data protection rules and European net neutrality provisions cannot be undermined by TiSA? 2. How does the Commission intend to stick to its own statements that TiSA and other trade agreements will not undermine the EU data protection laws, also with reference to article XIV of the General Agreement on Trade in Services? 3. What is the position of the other negotiating parties of TiSA regarding data protection and net neutrality and the US proposal specifically? WQ to Commission on TiSA proposals US
