Marietje Schaake, MEP and a WEF Young Global Leader, wowed those who wanted to learn if “Europe is back,” via a series of dinners, panels and reports. Schaake told EU Confidential that Davos is diversifying. “The Young Global Leaders are a very diverse group … I see the future in that group, it’s values-driven, not just profit-driven,” she said. Schaake advocated “showing by doing” as a way to transfer that diversity to the broader Davos delegates list, which is 80 percent male. The best part of the WEF, in her opinion: The world’s A-list is “very approachable.”
