Today the European Parliament and the Council found a compromise on the reform of the EU´s copyright laws.
Marietje Schaake: "After months of negotiations this result is one big disappointment. Upload filters will increase the power of big platforms and stifle the creativity of ordinary internet-users.At the same time journalists and authors will not be the main benificiaries of this reform. D66 will now look for a majority in the Parliament to reject this deal altogether. In 2012 the Parliament rejected the ACTA-treaty after massive protests. I could see that happen again in this election year."
